The Cal StateBakersfield Roadrunners (also known as CSUB Roadrunners or CSU Bakerfield Roadrunners) are the intercollegiate athletic teams of Cal State Bakersfield, located in Bakersfield, California. The university is currently a NCAA Division I school, after previously competing at the Division II level. The Roadrunners began the transition process in 2006 and became a full Division I member starting in the in July 2010.[2] CSUB is looking to join the Big West Conference, a primarily-Californian conference that includes several former rivals of the Roadrunners, but were denied a membership with the University of Hawaiʻi being the most recent addition.[3] However with UC San Diego planning a move to Division I in all sports except football, CSUB and UCSD hoped to have a chance to enter the conference simultaneously although the conference has shown no interest in expanding anytime soon.
